Our Foundation In Action Update on Our 2010 Community Grants |
Sixth Annual Home Legacy Golf Classic
This year’s tournament held at the Perth Golf Course on May 28th was sold out five weeks before the event. The event raised more than $27,000 for the Foundation and will allow us to enhance our community granting in 2010. We wish to say a very special thank you to our Title Sponsors- Bob, Molly and Richard Ellard from Home Hardware Building Centre and Home Furniture in Perth. Once again, the Ellards committed a significant amount of their resources, time and energy to ensure that the tournament was a resounding success. In addition to the Ellards, the organizing committee consisting of Ruth Graham, Chris Samson, Andy Davis, Craig Halpenny, Gordon Cowie, Kelly McHardy, and Dave Lewis worked tirelessly for several months and were instrumental in creating a first class tournament. Thanks to funding we received from The Corporation of the Town of Perth in 2008, the Perth and District Community Foundation recently approved a grant of $20,000 to The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. These funds will be used to assist in the renovations currently underway at the Perth Medical Centre located at 33 Drummond Street in Perth. The 6000 square foot medical center is undergoing extensive renovations, and when complete, it will create a complex whose primary function will be to house family physicians. Recruitment and retention of physicians is critical to the community and we are pleased to be able to assist with this project to make this initiative a reality for the betterment of the community.
